Healing through your birth chart

A healing journey through astrology

There are many things we can learn about ourselves through looking at our birth chart. You can learn what kind of careers would nourish your soul through understanding your 10th house placement and North Node. You can understand what you seek in a romantic partner by looking at your 7th house. Did you know you can also find profound healing through understanding your birth chart? Let’s explore the different healing aspects your chart has in store for you.

Your Chiron Sign

Chiron is an asteroid, not a planet, which can be confusing when trying to understand it. This asteroid was named after the Centaur in Greek mythology. In his story he was abandoned by his parents, but adopted by Apollo and Artemis. Under their influence he became an incredibly profound healer who helped many other high-ranking names in Greek mythology. His association with pain and healing comes from his origin story of being abandoned by his parents to growing into a skillful medical healer. You too, can harness this pain into healing power by understanding your Chiron sign. Look at your chart and determine the sign Chiron is in, this will be the wound you must focus on healing. Then, look at which house it’s in, this will be the area of your life you are to embrace healing. I have another blog about Chiron retrograde to reference each sign’s energy for further reading.

Where Virgo and Pisces are in your chart

Virgo and Pisces have a cyclical relationship to healing. Virgo, being the earth sign, represents the physical actions you take to start your healing journey. The organizational skills of Virgo can be harnessed here to help you build a plan to start the inner work for healing. What small steps can you make each day that help you to feel more attuned to yourself and for your best interest? Virgo as an energy represents reaping what you sow; make sure you’re laying down a solid foundation that you are able to commit to in order to see this through. Pisces, being the water sign, represents the impact you’ll have on others as you journey through your healing process. This energy also represents the more spiritual/emotional aspects of your healing journey. How does beginning this journey make you feel? What reservations do you have, and are they reasonable? When we begin down the road of healing it can change our behaviors and outward presentation. For example, if you had anger issues, working on this may change your interactions with others as you embrace patience. This leaves an impact on those around you obviously, maybe this will catch them off-guard as they had anticipated you to react out of anger. This shouldn’t deter you from progressing, as you’re working towards a healthier and happier you. Just keep in mind that as you begin your healing journey you may change, and this will likely be noticed by those around you. Look at your chart and determine where these signs are, what planets rule them? What houses do they influence? If you have no planets in these signs, the house will be the most influential. Yes, everyone has every sign somewhere in their chart. Even if there are no planets, there will be a house that sign rests in. This is why I strongly prefer and recommend using chart calculators that include the wheel graph, to show you the houses with no planets.

Your 6th and 12th house rulers

Your 6th house is most associated with workplace conditions, but it’s also associated with your physical condition. This is because it’s associated with the sign of Virgo, and thus carries Virgo principals. The focus for this house is on the physical impact the environment has on you. Healing from this perspective is heavily centered on how to care for your physical body and make your workplace more conducive to self-preservation. Are you the type to pull double shifts until you collapse? Maybe it’s time to really have a look at that and consider if that’s actually beneficial to you. Your 12th house is most associated with seclusion, which can make it difficult to understand this house’s influence. However, it is largely associated with the mind and mental health (since those are linked with how we respond to isolation). Understanding your 12th house can help you understand what you need to feel mentally well and emotionally balanced. This house takes on Pisces principals, but is more focused inward rather than how you influence the lives of others. This really highlights how you speak to yourself and how you manage your mental headspace. Be mindful of how you talk to yourself when you make mistakes, because this can be what’s blocking you from finding a path to healing. Practice self-compassion.

Where Cancer is in your chart

The sign of Cancer is associated with protection and safety. The representation of the crab, I feel, is very fitting. Often times this energy is known for its claws and the consequences of disturbing them (or provoking them). The fact that it has a hard shell to protect itself, and the fact that it prefers to burrow to escape provocation, seems to get left out. This energy is not on the defensive automatically, they prefer to burrow or flee for safety. However, if you provoke them or threaten their family, they have their claws to fight back. Understanding where Cancer is in your chart will help you to see how you protect yourself along your healing journey. The house Cancer is in will show you what area of life you tend to defend from outside criticism. While the planet(s) will determine how you defend that area of your life. Remember that it is always okay to set boundaries, and Cancer energy helps you to be firm in standing your ground when they’re tested.

Your Moon Sign

The moon in your birth chart shows you how you handle emotions and what makes you feel safe. This is pivotal for a self-healing journey as you’re bound to encounter things that upset you and may steer you off-course. Look towards the energy that your moon sign carries. For fire sign moons the theme is to physically express what you’re feeling. You’re the type that needs to jog or dance to release stress or anger. Physically moving activates that fire energy within you and helps to release what’s bothering you. You can create a work of art that expresses your feelings, dance or shake out stress, or simply going for a walk when you feel overwhelmed. The act of moving your body or creating art is akin to fire energy because it takes action from you to do these things. Engaging in these activities is how you understand yourself as well, you feel things on a very deep level and they’re often too large for you to express with words. Allow the feeling to escape you through taking action. For earth moons the theme is to reconnect with nature to let go of your feelings. Being an earth moon means your feelings often physically drag you down, as if you’re embodying the emotions. Your focus is not so much on expression as it is releasing. You can express yourself quite well actually, being that you’re very grounded in your experiences. The struggle is that you can’t seem to let them go once you’ve dealt with them. Getting out into nature or getting your hands dirty in the garden will really help you let go of what’s bothering you. Developing a close relationship with the element of earth by exploring your local natural park or growing your own garden will give you the inner peace you’re seeking. This helps to take you out of the situation and see the beauty that surrounds you. Because you’re so influenced by natural beauty this often sweeps away what was bothering you in the first place. Being reminded of just how small we are in the universe helps to calm you. For air sign moons the theme is that you must talk or write about what bothers you. As you’ve maybe already discovered, sometimes talking with another person doesn’t yield the results you were after. This is because you must focus on sorting your own feelings out. You have the gift of analysis when it comes to emotions, and often times others just don’t think the same way as you. This can cause you to feel unheard or misunderstood when trying to explain what’s eating you up. Of course, I’m not saying you shouldn’t discuss your feelings at all. It’s important to have a support system of friends or family. But you are encouraged to first write down what’s going on or speak to yourself to get the initial reaction out. After you’ve let out the reactionary aspect of your feeling you can identify what you’re really looking for. You’ll be able to calmly ask for support or better articulate what you need from someone. I strongly recommend a journal or video journal for air sign moons. For water moons the theme is to fully process your emotions, but usually alone. You feel things incredibly deeply, they take over your entire day or week and can physically manifest as pain or discomfort. Water moons get a negative reputation for being “moody” but I strongly disagree with the way this energy is described. Emotions are incredibly powerful, and not to be described as weakness. Water moons understand this on a very deep level. They allow their emotions to be the most powerful force they’re capable of. To embrace healing through this moon energy I strongly recommend developing a consistent meditation practice. You’re not working on quieting your emotions either, you’re working on sitting with them in peace. Meditation isn’t about making your mind (and emotions) silent, it’s about allowing them to pass by without rocking your boat. Focus on mastering riding the waves of your feelings throughout the day without falling overboard.
